haircut and shopping

twenty-seven years and one million words
Our day was spent on Kenny, today. That's normal enough for a Saturday. The unusual bit was that he came out of the day with his first haircut and his first favourite garment (a shirt).
The haircut was very much overdue, held off because we (and everyone else) loved his long curls. But the weather's been getting to be too much and it was time for the lovely tresses to go. Below are the before and after pics.
After the haircut (which took place in a seat fashioned from a push-toy classic Volkswagen Beetle) we went to a massive multi-store sale that was being put on by all of the vendors in the TOC building in Gotanda. It's something of a discount outlet and has the "Akachan hompo" ("baby's store") where so much of Kenny's clutter seems to come from. We managed to get a whack of steeply discounted clothing and whatnot (he'll expected to carry a backpack at the daycare soon if only to carry his diapers).
The star purchase was a shirt that he picked out by himself. It's got a repeating horizontal pattern of houses, trees, animals, and vehicles. And vehicles that seem to be large insects. I dunno what makes it his favourite, and I'm not sure why every alternate row of assorted semi-urban stuff appears upside down but it's a hit.
The kid was surprisingly well-behaved for both parfts of the day. He cried when first put in the car-chair and then the bib for the hair clippings. But he calmed right down after that. I have several photos but in my tired stupour took them to a DPE where I won't get them back for over a week!
