Izu Peninsula, 2009.05.11

Jon, Manami-san, Kamil and the family went to the Izu peninsula this weekend to get away from the city and to show Kamil a real Japanese ryokan. We returned to Osawa onsen, the same place we'd been to with Mari's parents when my mum came to visit.

To get to the onsen, you take the train down to Shimoda, then a bus out to the onsen's site in the hills. The return voyage is of course the same. So once back in Shimoda on Sunday, we rented some great cheap bikes and bounced around town. It was Kenny's first bike ride, and while he was simply strapped into a sling on my back, he seemed to really enjoy it, twisting and turning to see things as they went by.

The trip was a success. We all relaxed, and Kamil called it, "one of the best experiences of his life".
