down by the river

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Tokyo, 2009.10.17

Today we went to the Ara river to the east of Tokyo. Mari's organizing a river clean-up outing for her company, and wanted to do some scouting before the big day (in November). So we trekked out there with Mari's parents.

Kenny seemed to enjoy the wide open green spaces. I find it mildly tragic that such a place is a rarity for him.

Everyone had a nap when we came home. It's amazing that one small person can wipe out the energy from an unlimited number of adults.

rand()m quote

A civilization is a heritage of beliefs, customs, and knowledge slowly accumulated in the course of centuries, elements difficult at times to justify by logic, but justifying themselves as paths when they lead somewhere, since they open up for man his inner distance.

—Antoine de Saint-Exupery
