twenty-seven years and one million words

the Internet, 2008.09.22

It's just occurred to me that the ten-year anniversary of my presence on the Internet is just around the corner. According to the whois record for etherlabs.net (the original home of my website) it was first registered on October 7, 1998.

Prior to that my website took the form of corporate intranet sites wherever I was working (back in the days when staff could still have intranet sites).

When the birthday comes, I'll have to add something to my site indicating its venerable age.

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
