keyboard repair

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2008.09.15

It looks like my new Model M keyboard is permanently damaged. I'm still using it but only with a keyboard mapping utility that allows me to move keys around. I've currently got the non-functioning space key mapped to one of the useless Windows keys to the left of the Cntl-right key and am limping along. I've also got the 5, 7, and 8 keys mapped to the numeric keypad so that I can use the %, &, and * symbols.

Pretty depressing, all in all.

[update] I had to pack it in. The loss of the spacebar was simply too much to deal with.

rand()m quote

Immature poets imitate mature poets steal bad poets deface what they take and good poets make it into something better or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique utterly different than that from which it is torn the bad poet throws it into something which has no cohesion. A good poet will usually borrow from authors remote in time or alien in language or diverse in interest.
