So, I'm a member of the Canadian government's warden program in Tokyo. Specifically, I am the warden for Minato ku.
Being a warden means that I work with the local government to identify the locations of homes of Canadians in my district, and to identify hospitals and evacuation locations for those Canadians in case of a major disaster.
In Tokyo, it's pre-assumed that major disaster means earthquake, of course.
Tonight was the kick-off for the biennial get-together for wardens in Japan. There were 45 of us from around the country present, and we had a meet-and-greet at a hotel near the embassy.
