songs, old and new

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Tokyo, 2008.06.02

There's an old Monty Python song that goes:

I've got two legs /

from my hips to the ground.

And when I move 'em /

I walk around.

And when I lift 'em /

I climb the stairs.

And when I shave 'em /

they ain't got hairs.

I've been singing this to Ken since my wife was about four months pregnant.

I've recently added a second verse, which goes:

I've got two hands /

from here to my fists.

And when I shake 'em /

they go like this.

And when I clap 'em /

they make a sound.

And when I hold you /

they go around.

rand()m quote

You have to choose between trusting to the natural stability of gold and the natural stability of the honesty and intelligence of the members of the Government. And, with due respect for these gentlemen, I advise you, as long as the Capitalist system lasts, to vote for gold.

—George Bernard Shaw
