movie review - Primer
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
I came across this indie time travel movie quite by chance, and I'm glad I did. It sets strict rules on how time travel works, and it focuses more on the effect on the time travelers than on the things they do when they travel. For instance, the two friends who invent the system go back to prevent a shooting at a party: we never saw the shooting, we just heard about it; and later when they prevent that, they just relate that they prevented it. It's so inward focused that we are quickly caught up in the growing paranoia and obsession of the travelers.
And when one of them decides that it's time to put a stop to it and he starts killing other traveling versions of himself, I was right there with him.
Strongly recommended.
