movie review - Four Brothers

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2006.11.03

This is a movie about four adopted brothers who re-unite to bury their mother who was gunned down in a robbery. They come to suspect that the robbery wasn't what it appeared, and try to work out whether there was a motive. It's very uneven, unfortunately, careening between different tones and seemingly strung together from different edits of a single story that were shuffled after a major rewrite. OK I'm not making a tonne of sense here but neither does this movie. It's as if a Western was updated but they didn't notice that you can't gun down half the town without someone coming around to investigate. You can't flash a big gun in public. You can't .. well, behave like these characters did.

Not recommended.

I really didn't foresee the Internet. But then, neither did the computer industry. Not that that tells us very much of course - the computer industry didn't even foresee that the century was going to end.
