movie review - The Brothers Grimm

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2006.06.18

This is the story of two charlatans peddling meaningless fixes to small towns after having ginned up some kind of local threat to those towns. They get caught out when they finally come to a town with a real problem. With an excellent cast and directed by Terry Gilliam, I expected harmless fun and despite being stiff, uneven, and tonally inconsistent, this one was. But I wouldn't call it sincere or made with love.

Not recommended. Except maybe for one of those nights you need a break.
