fedora core 3 and me

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2005.06.14

On Saturday I installed "FC3" on my PC, as noted in this journal. I've been using OpenOffice to work on my novel in place of MS Word, which I've been using since the thing outgrew Wordpad (and since ABIWord, as of 2001, proved to be too unstable). This morning it dawned on me that I'm enjoying more benefits than just the improved crash-resistance of the operating system: I'm also working with a word processor that doesn't infuriate me. I mean, Word's craziness drives me completely, insanely apesh!t on a fairly regular basis, and "OpenOffice Write" just calmly does what I want (once I switched off the amazingly annoying auto-word-complete).

So far, so good.

You have to choose between trusting to the natural stability of gold and the natural stability of the honesty and intelligence of the members of the Government. And, with due respect for these gentlemen, I advise you, as long as the Capitalist system lasts, to vote for gold.
