VoIP no more

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2005.04.20

After weeks of frustrating dead calls*, weird audio effects, interruptions to our network service, and voice quality that is considerably poorer than even Skype can manager, we've decided to pull the metaphoric plug on the Primus VoIP phone service we've been using at home, and are going back to ... shudder ... Bell.

But only for a time. We'll be back on Primus's land-line home service shortly thereafter.

*Our dead calls take the form of the remote party suddenly being unable to hear us in the middle of a call.

rand()m quote

A civilization is a heritage of beliefs, customs, and knowledge slowly accumulated in the course of centuries, elements difficult at times to justify by logic, but justifying themselves as paths when they lead somewhere, since they open up for man his inner distance.

—Antoine de Saint-Exupery
