blood
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
Today, for the first time in a very long time (and I mean it's likely been 12+ years at a minimum) I gave blood. It was the first time in all these years that I've been at the right time and place to do so, and not on one of their lists of unacceptable donors.
The usual problem with my blood is the tattoos. You have to wait for 12 months to give blood after getting a tattoo done. And if it's not the tattoos, it's the antihistamines. But it's been four years and change since my last tattoo, and it's Winter so I haven't had any antihistamines. And it's even been over a year since my one set of experiments with acupuncture (another 12 month wait).
Giving blood is not without its embarrassments. I've been leading such a boring life that I had to answer 'no' to all of the exciting questions they ask. No drugs, no sex with people of interest, not even any trips outside Canada in three years!
So hooray for me. My "be positive" blood is now back in the system.
