the NHL
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
I see the NHL is back in the news. They're trying to put together some kind of last minute deal. If they don't, it'll be the first time that there hasn't been a Stanley Cup playoff since 1919, when the great flu epidemic wiped out a frightening proportion of the country's population.
And why? Because Gary Bettman is in charge of the league. I'm beginning to suspect that the other big leagues in the 'States (where the real money is) are putting him up to this so they can use the same deal he foists on the hockey world to break the backs of the players' associations in their own leagues.
Anyway, fnck the NHL. It's not hockey to me anymore.
