shake, rattle and snooze

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Tokyo, 2005.08.08

Ptth, earthquakes. I'm barely waking for them now. Or at least, I came to right around midnight, and stared at the clock thinking, "what am I doing awake at midnight - I never wake up at this time of night..." I'd had an odd sensation like something had startled me awake, but the only lingering bit was as if my duvet had been sliding around. Dismissing that immediately as some sort of dream hangover, I just turned over and dozed off again.

What I'd slept through was what would have qualified as the biggest earthquake of my life, if it had happened a month ago. My fourth earthquake in just three weeks and a day.

I didn't even know it had happened, however, until a coworker pointed it out later in the day.

I have finally taken some of my rolls of film into the lab for prints... and writing of digital scans to CD. This is a first for me, I hope it works out. I'm keen to get some of my Tokyo shots on this web site for the people back home.

Satire is tragedy plus time. You give it enough time, the public, the reviewers will allow you to satirize it. Which is rather ridiculous, when you think about it.
