twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2004.12.06

If Toronto in November is the most depressing place on Earth, Toronto in December can be one of the most aggravating. How could it be snowing and foggy at the same time?!

Actually, I've seen more fog this Autumn than I've ever seen in non-Maritime Canada. I must have dragged it back from Halifax with me.

rand()m quote

It has always seemed strange to me...The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.

—John Steinbeck, Cannery Row
