babysitting Graydon

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2003.11.21

Tonight I joined my girlfriend in babysitting her nephew Graydon. That's right, his name is Graydon. He will be beaten a lot in grades 4 - 9. He's a good kid. A better kid than I am a sitter, actually - I managed to scratch up the hardwood by pushing him around on his little kiddie bike thingy (one of those plastic four-wheeler). And then I managed to send him flying off of a slight break in the floor. He landed face first but bounced right up.

rand()m quote

It's difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.
