two undershirt day

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Toronto, 2003.11.12

You know the kind of day where you decide at 6:30 to have a bit of a nap, so you take off your shirt and discover that you've been wearing two undershirts all day?

This was that kind of day.

After the nap, I went to the monthly photo.meetup.com thing. There were seven of us, in all, and all of us were repeat visitors. It's getting to be pretty good, I have to say. I gave my usual pitch of being out of work (such a familiar story, by now).

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
