a photo trek
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
Today I went on a photo trek with Katherine from the photo.meetup.com thing. I was shooting black and white IR-sensitive film. Her directions to the site were a little vague and I wound up trekking all over the place before finding the site, but it was worth it.
After the trip, we went to a place she knows on Mt. Pleasant that she wants to have added to the meetup.com system. We talked with the shift manager about the idea, and he taught me something interesting about the Toronto 'regularly meeting group' thing.
Apparently there are some twenty 'known' groups in the city that will descend on a place, tie up their waiters and tables for four hours, and only order a couple of hundred dollars worth of stuff. He told one horror story of the restaurant booking off a whole room and winding up serving water all over the place all night. So it looks like regularly-meeting-groups are bad for business.
