today I refinished the floor of my apartment

Today I decided to refinish the floor of my new apartment. This meant I'd need materials for sanding and cleaning it, and adding a new coat of finish. For this, went down to the recently-reopened "original" Canadian Tire on Yonge St just north of Bloor. On a Saturday afternoon. I should have my head examined.

It took an hour, even with the speedy assistance of the woman in the paint department. It also cost $80.

Once I finally had everything over to the place, it was easy. One of the gizmos I bought was a mechanism that fits onto a broom handle. You clip on a piece of sandpaper, and push it around the place, sanding the floor. The interesting bit was that it had a universal joint that allowed the thing to swivel in all directions as you used it. It was great. In all, the ~500 square foot that I resurfaced took about two hours.

I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are good people and bad people. You're wrong, of course. There are, always and only, the bad people, but some of them are on opposite sides.
