twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2003.03.12

Tonight I went to a meeting organized through photo.meetup.com. The same outfit through which I was stood up by five strangers last month. This time I was again stood up by about five strangers, but there was another who showed up. Her name was Elizabeth, she's a 29-year-old and an avid photographer who shoots about a roll a day(!), mostly in the city on walks. We traded notes and promised to keep in touch. She also promised to bring some prints for next time.

Illusions commend themselves to us because they save us pain and allow us to enjoy pleasure instead. We must therefore accept it without complaint when they sometimes collide with a bit of reality against which they are dashed to pieces.
