I like mud creek and I cannot lie

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2003.02.05

The Sun has been making an on-again, off-again comeback after a surprisingly dull and gloomy Winter. I've discovered what I think is my favourite bit of Toronto - a small stretch of the 'mud creek' ravine, where it passes through the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Under snow and sunlight, the sweeping slopes studded with tombstones are a fine sight.

It's weird, man. People can watch a movie where thousands of people die in a war and not a tear. Yet one collie dies .. and the entire nation collapses with grief.
