movie review - The Ring

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2002.11.05

Well, no two ways about it, this is one of the most intense, frightening flicks I've seen in some time. I think it was the flickering black and white film central to the story that did it. The one with the mirrors, the horses, and the ladder. Or maybe it was the dead girl (evil b*tch!). Shudder. See this one in the cinema; the visual and sound effects pretty much shift this thing into top gear and a rental won't do it.

Recommended.

It may be that when we no longer know what to do we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go we have come to our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings.
