movie review - Triple X

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Vancouver, 2002.08.25

This one gets points primarily for its send-up of most action flicks of its kind. For instance: during the very much cliched skis-and-snowmobiles chase scene, our hero sets off an avalanche to simply snow everyone under. But that only goes so far, and there's plenty in this one to make up for, including unnecessary - and sometimes even boring(?) - action scenes, generally stilted dialogue, and a bit too much pandering to the teenage audience. In all, an amusing distraction, but not a particularly good example of the genre or the actors involved.

Not recommended.

rand()m quote

Immature poets imitate mature poets steal bad poets deface what they take and good poets make it into something better or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique utterly different than that from which it is torn the bad poet throws it into something which has no cohesion. A good poet will usually borrow from authors remote in time or alien in language or diverse in interest.
