so crows eat robins

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Vancouver, 2002.06.28

I've learned something about crows, today. I heard a commotion from outside, and looked down and to my amazement watched a crow kill a robin! Another robin was frantically trying to get the crow of its (child/sibling/spouse) by swooping and attacking. But a second crow was also present, and it just had to spread its wings and the other robin would back off. The two crows departed with the dead robin, leaving the bereaved one to stand around in the street.
