So I went 'round to a couple of stores yesterday to try to price a new release plate for my tripod. $40. That's about 45% of the cost of a new tripod. Who would have thought that so much cost could be contained in a bit of plastic and rubber with a single threaded screw. Oh, that's right, it's 'photographic equipment'.
