making a new photo editor
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
I've been working on a replacement for my highly manual method of managing my photos on this site. It's a new, db-driven thing that I'm building from scratch with the usual tools. It's going well, but man it's a lot of work. I worry vaguely that my career stuff is infecting my hobbies, but I suppose it's all right cos I haven't actually been working for so long now, haha ha.
I've also been pursuing a contract gig in Calgary. One of these days, I reckon, I'll land work. And I'll need a laptop, so I've been wondering about models and tax questions and leasing and whatnot. And liability insurance and what the hell I'll do with my apartment when it's all settled. But the laptop's by far the most 'fun', and it seems that some of the IBM boxes are particularly good. With IBM, at least, you can walk into a store and have a look at the things (unlike Dell and most Toshiba models) and have some faith that they'll be around before the effective lifespan of your purchase is over (unlike Compaq/HP and Gateway).
