movie review - Musketeer
the journal of Michael Werneburg
twenty-seven years and one million words
Vancouver, 2002.03.09
This is another version of "The Three Musketeers" by Alexander Dumas. And it's easily the worst I've encountered. It's not just the endless one-liners and usual Musketeers camp, or the cliched boyishly good-looking 22-year-old leading man, or the over-the-top bad-guys (this time played by Tim Roth and Stephen Rea, who lend the movie its only watchable moments). No, this thing has such bad execution it's really surprising that it went to the cinemas. Awful.
Not recommended.
