movie review - Orgazmo

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Vancouver, 2002.07.23

This is a movie by Trey Parker of South Park notoriety. It's about a mormon who goes of to LA to do his missionary stint, and winds up in the porn industry instead. It's about as slap-dash as you'd expect, but earns some respect by not going overboard with the mormon jokes ("Jesus and I love you!", the mormon and his fiancee tell one another) and the cock gags (several running gags). It's also got a liberal sprinkling of the genuine article playing the porn stars with an amused detachment.

My brother, mother, and sister-in-law were repeating the cracks in this one for a couple of days afterwards.

Strongly recommended.

rand()m quote

Selfish leaders increase risk by placing themselves first. It's a fundamental mistake to assume that what is good for us personally is mutually exclusive to what is good for everyone. That kind of zero-sum game is for cowards, and in the end, we all pay the price for this type of latent, toxic leadership.
