I'm losing my Oma

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Vancouver, 2001.05.29

As I was walking to the downtown library this afternoon, I noticed a tiny barber shop called house of Envy on Richards St. It must have been about 6 metres by 4.5 metres in size. Remarkably tiny. There were four barber's chairs in it, though, and two women cutting clients' hair. It looked pretty crowded.

I was woken this morning by the awful news that my Oma had spent much of yesterday in a coma. My aunt Maureen arranged for a cot to be added to the room, and spent the night with her. She's apparently up and alert this morning.
