movie review - Bringing Out The Dead

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Sydney, 2000.11.18

I liked this movie, but not as much as I wanted to. The story is about an ambulance medic who's slowly cracking under the pressure of the job. It's well done, in a curiously unengrossing fashion. While it's very gritty, without anything comprised or even a suggestion of where its heading until it stops. But then it does stop, almost as if the director had no where else to go. That said, along the way it's an interesting exploration. Worth watching.

Recommended.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
