whales of New South Wales

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Sydney, 2000.10.07

Today, we've been in Australia for 8 months! Time flies when you're having fun.

We're off, once again, to go whale watching in Pt. Stephens. Our last trip was a total bust, so we've got half-priced tickets this time around. The temperature is supposed to hit 35 degrees today, which will be a nice change from the 10 degree weather we encountered the last time. Clever whales, heading towards Antarctica.

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
