movie review - My Life as a Dog

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Sydney, 2000.07.10

This is a flick about a kid growing up in Sweden. He's a chick magnet at the age of ten, but his mother is dying of TB and he thinks it's his fault. He gets shipped off to some cousins in the sticks, and miserably tries to sort out his life. It's an emotionally and tonally sincere story and ably told. I enjoyed it. Well, the material is too tough for "enjoyment". I appreciated it.

Recommended.
