movie review - Just a Little Harmless Sex

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Sydney, 2000.07.07

This is a silly B flick about three female friends and three male friends. One of the male friends is married to one of the female friends. One of the other females was married to the second male, but they split up and are now bitter enemies. The third male is a writer geek and the third female is a female equivalent. In the opening sequence, the three males are in a strip joint. The married male decides he's bored, and wants to go home to his wife. On the way, he picks up a stranded motorist, who talks him into a little of the subject matter.

The cops then come and send married male to a holding cell, at which point married female is called, and the teams are set on their respective courses of drunkenly seeking vengeance on the one side, and drunkenly seeking a way out on the other.

Most of the rest of the flick is about cheesy sexual politics, B movie style. Strangely, the guitarist/singer from From Dusk Til Dawn is in this one, playing a guitarist/singer. This is the kind of B flick where you're rooting for it. Kinda like Lake Placid.

Not recommended.

I like my buddies from west Texas. I liked them when I was young, I liked them when I was middle-age, I liked them before I was president, and I like them during president, and I like them after president.
