movie review - Heaven's Burning

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Sydney, 2000.03.15

This is an Australian flick about a getaway driver who inadvertently winds up in teamed up with a runaway Japanese housewife. It's funny and slick, but has a bit of punch, too, such as the scene were the housewife's jilted husband turns up at the driver's father's place, and starts shooting first and asking questions later.

Recommended.

rand()m quote

Society is indeed a contract... [the state] is a partnership in all science; a partnership in all art; a partnership in every virtue, and in all perfection. As the ends of such a partnership cannot be obtained in many generations, it becomes a partnership not only between those who are living, but between those who are living, those who are dead, and those who are to be born.

—Edmund Burke
