apartment searchin'

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Sydney, 2000.03.10

We may have found an apartment. I wandered over to a neighbourhood on the 'lower north shore' called Kirribilli, and talked to DJ at James Milson Real Estate. She showed us a couple of places, and we've applied.

We've seen so many terrible places that cost an arm and a leg that it's nice to find something livable. By "terrible places" I'll try to paint a picture in as few words as possible: cramped, unclean, poorly laid out, and .. cockroaches. Several apartments had more cockroaches than I'd ever seen in 28 years in Canada.

rand()m quote

A civilization is a heritage of beliefs, customs, and knowledge slowly accumulated in the course of centuries, elements difficult at times to justify by logic, but justifying themselves as paths when they lead somewhere, since they open up for man his inner distance.
