movie review - Celebrity

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Sydney, 2000.02.15

This is about a bumbling fellow going through a mid-life crisis, and the wife he leaves early in the movie to become a play-write. While his wife gets back on her feet in reasonably short order, our man makes a series of ever-greater errors in judgment that result in several failed relationships and a lot of misery. Branagh plays Allen's traditional role to a tee, and it quite despicably pathetic, pulling such stunts as breaking up with his girlfriend on the day she's set to move in with him! It's very worth watching.

Recommended.
