movie review - Ravenous

I didn't recognize Guy Pierce (the clean-shaven 'hero' of L.A. Confidential) at any point in this movie. Perhaps that's because he was a long-haired, filthy, cowardly cannible. As the good guy in a cast of real scum, his character was just so similar to the antagonist (Carlyle), that it was hard to give a damn who ultimately ate whom....
However, this film does have some very good minutes (the whole middle third, essentially), and the setting + score do their part admirably. On the whole, I enjoyed it.
