movie review - Eat The Rich

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-eight years and a million words

Tokyo, 1998.09.09

This is a grim comedy about the plight of the poor, down-trodden masses and what happens when they've finally had enough and decide to start grinding up the rich and serving them to each other. I first saw this on TV of all place, late one night when alone in early 1990. I came across a copy in a rental place much to my delight and gave it another watch. With a stellar cast, a servicable plot, and a sound-track from Motörhead, and actually Lemmy from Mot́́örhead, who can complain?

Would you like to join our people's uprising?

Strongly recommended.

Capitalist production, therefore, only develops the techniques and the degree of combination of the social process of production by simultaneously undermining the original sources of all wealth – the soil and the worker.
