One of my favourite cemeteries in the whole wide world, this is a private one located in the centre of Toronto.
In 2003, I belonged to an informal group that would get together to talk about photography. We even did a few photo jaunts around the city.
A Toronto radio station used to bill Toronto as, "the city that never sleeps past noon".
In May 28 & 29 of 2011, I attended "Doors Open Toronto". On Saturday morning I met with some people from PentaxForums, and then later met with Mari and Kenny. On Sunday, we the family visited a pair of sites.
In February of 2011, we moved to the Toronto neighbourhood called the Beach(es).
Visitors to Toronto are often disappointed by the pointed lack of fashion in the city. Tellingly, there is a 'fashion district' in Toronto but the name refers to the defunct manufacturing sector that left behind interesting buildings now given over to small businesses, restaurants, some nightclubs, and a media firm or two.
Along with the graffiti-rich Queen Street West area west of Spadina, and the "entertainment district" around John Street, there's still plenty of interesting stuff going on despite the rapid redevelopment into faceless, pointless condo towers.
There's a habit in Toronto for neighbourhoods to be identified by name. Many of the names didn't exist in the mid nineties when I first arrived here (Corktown? Leslieville?). But Cabbagetown was a name everyone knew; its a busy place with decent houses and good shopping. One thing that's always pleased me about the district is the high standard for restaurants; I don't know how this has happened in a city where restaurants are a notorious crapshoot.
Toronto has a lengthy waterfront. Most of it is seemingly buried behind condos and water treatment plants and stretches of private land, but Centre Island Park in Toronto is one of the city's highlights.
In July of 2011, I hopped on my bike and rode to Pickering in the \"greater toronto area\"\'s east end.
We took the kids and Mari's parents (visiting from rural Kyusyu) to the pride parade. It was the grandparents' first timeānot so the kids ;).
A collection of pics about cycling in Toronto. Related to collections such as the Toronto parking atrocity.
The many streets that make up Toronto's grid and its spaces inbetween.
