Travel book reviews are special; they're aimed at how useful a book is, more than anything. And using that criterion, I can safely state that this is a good travel guide; the copy I picked up would go on to become one of the most dog-eared, underlined, highlighted, and all-round used books I've ever owned.
When planning our trip to Australia, my (then) girlfriend and I bought a number of books. Now that I'm back in Canada, I have all but two of them on my bookshelf; both of those that I'm missing are still in Australia. One we threw away on arrival, after finding it somewhat erroneous and dull. The other - the Frommer's book - stayed with her in that country following our break-up because it was still useful to someone who'd been living there!
I see that there's now a 12th edition of this book out there, and I'm glad that Frommer's is continuing to revise the book. We needed a well-written book for two 30ish travellers who wanted to travel on a budget, and that's just what this book provided. It offers quick access to important stuff no matter where you go, and provides just the right mix of background and detail. I strongly recommend it.
