I found this book quite helpful in understanding a) how to read balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements b) GAAP. Overall, a good shot in the arm. It's intended to be a high-level introduction, and it excels at that. If you simply want to know how to read a company's financial reports, or to read a journal or double-entry account ledgers, this does the job.
