Tokyo, 2019.12.20This bike is a typical Tokyo "mamachari". Baskets fore and aft, roughly Dutch upright style, limited gear set, and townie handlebars. Note the absurd little lock on the seat stays, and the lack of lights. These bikes typically cost under $100 and there's a bit of a culture of people helping themselves to other people's bikes if they're too drunk/late to catch a bus.
Two things to note about this bike:
1. It has a parking tag (not ticket) on the rear fender, so this is someone who pays to park their bike somewhere.
2. It's blocking a quarter of the lane-way, which as you can see was fairly heavily trafficked and something of a destination thanks to all of the izakayas.
