Kokubunji is a city in the middle of the sprawling Tokyo prefecture, some 25 kilometers west of Shinjuku at the edge of the city's built-up center. It's built atop some of the best soil in the world, being meters of deep volcanic deposits. Everything grows like crazy here, it must have been something to see before humans tore it all down. Anyway, it's not uncommon to see creepers growing, like Smilax china here.
