stir-crazy beluga

Kanagawa, 2010.06.17

This beluga whale (which the Japanese call a dolphin; unlike the Orca which they call a whale) was in a small, confined space and was endlessly doing laps. Up, grab some air, down, around, touch the tank side in one spot, and up. It was a pattern I saw a pilot whale in another tank also following. Poor bastards, penned up and driven mad for our entertainment.
