On this morning, we arrived in Kobe on the over-night ferry from Miyazaki on Kyushu. It was cool but not terribly windy, whereas at 22:00 the night before the ship had been rocking and rolling. Half the span of a red "bowstring arch" bridge crossing water in Kobe's inner harbor is shown. It is just before dawn on January 4, 2025 and steam rises from two tall smokestacks in the distance. A number of tugboats are on the right behind a concrete break. The water is flat with ripples and is the color of the sky -- a pastel span ranging form light blue to light pink.
