Mari spotted this root, which seems to have found its way through the rough volcanic rock. I think it's pumice or something similar, it's either that or coral and doesn't resemble the latter. A lot of the rock in the immediate area was clearly basalt. I can't find any conclusive descriptions in English, sadly.
