What ensued was a bizarre trek around the city that involved two locations we didn't want to stop at (both, through some unimagineable coincidence, dodgy retail locations) and neither the destination we had in mind or the lone stop we wanted to make. Bouncing around in the back of the unsafe (and possibly unlicenced) vehicle, we found ourselves dodging between trucks and cars, menacing pedestrians, and even charging along lanes on the far side of the centre line (when there was a centre line). At one of the stops, we were conned by a supposed ex-monk of the site we were visiting. At another, we bought neckties from a fellow who had labelled his wares with the most blatantly fraudulant labels (as if anyone couldn't tell silk from polyester). Naturally, we enjoyed every minute. I wholly endorse getting suckered for a two hour misadventure in Bangkok; do it in good humour.rate this photo
