Not hoping for fertility, per se, but we did the tourist thing and rode an elephant. Riding an elephant, I'm guessing, is a knack that takes more than one twenty-minute session. They seem to be surprisingly willful creatures*. You tend to bounce back and forth a fair bit as they trudge forward, and steep slopes are an experience into themselves, as the great beast slowly plods up impossible angles with you dangling off of its back. The distance at which you ride above the ground is quite impressive; it should be a no-brainer, but it is a wholly different experience from riding a horse.
Elephant skin is about as thick as your finger, and the hair is tough and thick as toothbrush bristles (but much longer).
*Ours repeatedly refused our guide's instructions, and occasionally acted up by doing things like stopping for a quick bunch of grasses or to tear a thin branch off of something. But I guess for the things to have survived the company of humans for this long, they'd have to be a bit... ornery.
