The owner of this home has modified an old traditional Japanese style of hanging ball made from bundled reeds (or roots?) and carved them to resemble owls. I've never seen anything other than the traditional round shape before. Not sure if I like this trend! 8) Below is a (barely visible) traditional ball (hanging under the covered gate).
